Huldrych Zwingli, 1484 – 1531

Background, Life and Influence

Huldrych Zwingli - Zwingli Zentrum Toggenburg

Special Exhibition

The exhibition presents the most important historical facts about Zwingli and the key events in his life, helping visitors to gain a better understanding of the reformer’s theological, social and political influence. This includes the global effects of the Reformation, the differences between Zwingli, Luther and Calvin, and Christians today – where is our path taking us?

The heart of Zwingli’s origins can be found in Wildhaus. The keywords here are Zwingli’s grandfather, a transalpine merchant, the contribution to democratic reform from Toggenburg, the role of the Zurich Zwingli Association, secondary schooling for Catholics and Reformists.

The exhibition is designed to be an active, personal meeting place, one that complements the information available online and via smartphones. The documents provide the basis for all the ZZT’s special programmes.
